MUNICIPAL & PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENTS
NATIONAL ECONOMIC AWARENESS DAY PROCLAMATION
“Our local and provincial government work hard to have support services in place for victims of Economic Abuse, let’s talk about awareness and prevention”
Through our ‘Operation Proclamation’ we are reaching out to municipalities and provinces across Canada to proclaim November 26th as Economic Abuse Awareness Day to raise awareness and open dialogues on measures to support survivors of Economic Abuse. More than 31 cities have already joined our call to action and we are actively working together with city councils to increase proclamations from coast to coast. We are also advocating for the government of Canada to proclaim November 26 as National Economic Abuse Awareness Day nationwide.
We are actively reaching out to local governments and elected officials and submitted a commitment letter outlining our policy recommendations to address Economic Abuse.
More than 30 Canadian political leaders at all levels of government, including Members of Parliament, Members of Provincial Parliament, and City Councilors, have responded and already signed the letter pledging to support survivors of Economic Abuse and to incorporate CCFWE’s policy recommendations within their policy agenda and frameworks. Read our Commitment Letter.
Join us to advocate economic and financial abuse everywhere, and empower the women in your life.
